i have a 79 camaro and im taking out the 305 and the 3speed tranny and putting in a 350 and a 700r4 tranny just wondering if any one has done it i hear that i have to cut the drive shaft and the mounts are goin to be a little different.

 

Motor should match up same without a problem. Tranny crossmember will be different and you can buy bolt in crossmembers for our years especially with a700R4 but it costs around 220 bucks by itself. You can find that crossmember here.

The reason I know this is because I was thinking about doing the same tranny setup. I already have the 350 but all Gen 1 small blocks should mount the same. Your driveshaft will need to be redone. I don't know total length but there are some places that you can get them custom made from. I think Strange Engineering and Competition Engineering do them if I remember correctly but I'm sure there's others. You can also find a decent machine shop that should be able to do it with little effort. Just make sure they're reputable otherwise you can get an off balance driveshaft which totally blows.
