Hi, I'm a new member my question of the day is, What is the best Tranny oil to use on a T350 I am using DexronIII Mercon, I was thinking of buying Summit's B&M Transmission oil.

 

Amsoil Synthetic Transfluid!!! ONLY WAY TO GO!!! Redline and Royal Purple are good ones also. Amsoil has been around since 1965 and originally contracted by NASA to creat the first synthetic. IT also has the highest anti-foaming properties and it runs the coolest.

 

How old is the trans? Has it been rebuilt? Has is seen regular maintenance? if it's worn out synthetics wont help much. neither will servicing, in fact in alot of cases I have seen transmitions fail shortly after service. Customers don't think about routine services untill they start having drivability issues at 100K+ they think it will cure the problem, but, it ususally dose'nt. then the tranny tanks, they get a new one and the cycle repetes.

 

He's got a good point... If it's slipping don't bother with a flush, you'll just fry your clutches.

 

I have the camaro since 2000, engine is 327/ 30 over Tranny is rebuilt, Engine maybe has 1000 miles don't take car out alot b/c I have rubbing problems, quarter panel to wheels, that's another story. When I parked the car for the winter I noticed a puddle, transmission oil, leaked out from a wire connection on the transmission I was using Quaker State merconIII, but I would like to try the Amsoil. I always use Type F (for fords) in my trannys. it gives a more solid shift and is a lot cheaper than all the hi-po stuff.

 

Type F does not stand for Ford *** clown. F stands for friction. DO NOT USE IN YOUR 350!!! The Turbo 350 uses Dexron II because the clutches inside the transmission do slip when you have your foot on the brake. If you had the Type F fluid, you would burn out the clutches. For reference of price... It is $11.99 at most store and prices go up. I can get it from a supplier if you would like and you would have to buy it by the case. 12 bottles per case @$6.50/qt. and then shipping. If you can pick it up there is no shipping.
