temp guage
ok so iw as coming home from dropping my mom off to pick up her van..and theres alot of redlights on the way to and from the shop..and on the way home i glance down and the car is at like 180 witch it what i expected, but then i make the turn and there a decent hill and the car pulls up it fine and im tryin to get it cuz the air cools it down fast and at the top of the hill i look over and the guage reads like 230 and then it jumped to like 260 then back to 230 and then when i let off it went down almost like a tach to 190..so i stopped and got out and popped the hood real fast and nothinout of the ordinary i get back in the car and its at 190 and then as i cruise it went back to normal.i hhvent driven it scince .but is this just a fluke in the gauge or should i be worried?

RE: temp guage
Are you using your dash temp guage or an aftermarket? My'92 used to do that same thing, couldnt ever trace the problem to anything specfic, so Ibought anaftermarketone, put a new sending unit on the water inlet housing on the intake manifold, worked great.

RE: temp guage
Check the coolant level to see if it's low. Where did you installthe sending unit, the head or intake manifold? The sending unitreads "coolant" temperature, andit obviously has to be in contact with coolant to read it.

RE: temp guage
That was my thought. With it being in the manifold, if the level is low and barely coming in contact with the sending unit on level ground, going uphill will slosh the coolant to the back and away from the sending unit. I prefer to have the sending unit lower, like in the head.

RE: temp guage
yea..when i run the lines for the heater im probably gonna move it to the head cuz i wanna use that spot for the return line....but wont it read hotter from that spot? or should it all be the same?
