Tail light fuse !!!
So my camaro is now my daily driver since my truck is down for repairs. I started driving it after it has been sitting for a year. I now for a fact it had tail lights that worked when I dug it out of our shop. Here is my problem, I keep melting the fuse as soon as I put it in. I unhooked the tail light wiring from the fuse box trying to eliminate the narrow down the wiring but it still instantly melts. I tested the wires going up to the switch and replaced the switch with no avail. Has anyone ever had a fuse box go bad or? This isn't my only fuse that blows all the time, Wipers, and my 12v power outlet. I'm about ready to tear the whole dash apart and fuse box but wanted opinions first.
Need to isolate the problem or you'll chase your tail forever. Start with removing the fuse and test the load side of the fuse to ground. If it shows continuity with everything off on an ohm meter you've got a short. Begin by unplugging the wiring plug from the headlight switch, then retest. Pull the other fuses that blow and test again as you pull each. You may have wires that have melted insulation and are shorting to each other. Don't plug anything back in until you've discovered the short.
A visual inspection of the various wiring harnesses may show something if you see any signs of hot or melted covering.
