Default speedo cabel

how do i put together the speedometer cabel on a 350 tranny? i see the wire going down to the tail shaft but the little silver threaded thing thats on it fell off. do i need a new one or does it all just go back together?

What wire? Are you talking about the braided cable? The cable runs inside the insulated cable housing. Onthe transmission end of the cable housing is a metal end with a flare on it to keepthe threaded keeper "thing" from coming off. Without seeing it, I don't know why yours fell off. Possibly the end isn't flared enough anymore, and/or the hole in the keeper could be sloppier than normal. If the treaded keeper is fine, you can put it back on and flare theend of the housing more with a pair of pliers. Otherwise, you may need to treat your car to a new one.

yeah thats what i was talking about. sorry about the horrific description, the cabel and the keeper. i had no idea that was called a keeper. adn that it was suppose to be flared. thanks. and again....sorry for that descriton :/
