my tranny wont go into gear sometimes. and when i slide the thing on the outside of the tranny back and fowards and than it will go into gear. is that the cabels problem, or is that something on the inside of thetrans???

 

well if the little slide thingy makes it work then ide guess it was the cable hangin up somewere or somthin...or did you mean that if you wiggle it and then try again it will slide into gear?

 

if i leave the thing in park. move that thing on the side. than try to put it in gear. it will go into gear.

 

sry i cant help...cuz what i was thinkin the the car would go into gear w/o touching the shifter..like as soon as you slid the little thing shouldnt it start to go right away.....but dont the 400's have electronic stuff...i think i remember you sayin thats what your car had..nut maby it would be a loos wire there or somthin
