Old Suspension
I don't know if this is the way it's supposed to be in these old cars, but I can have my little sisters in the back seat, my girl friend in the passenger seat and me, And it seems like I hit every bump in the road, every little dip i scrape the underside. And the sidewalls of the rear tire's get a little scraped up. Is this because all the suspension is original, or as far as I know its original and it's just worn out and needs to be replaced, or is it something else?

Springs sag with age, and shocks and suspension components wear out. Also the tires may be bigger than the factory design and rub on the fenders. Rebuild the suspension and the car will act much better.

not sure of the offset on your yr but if u have aftermarket wheels the off set may be different than stock putting your tires out to far. u can roll the inner fender lip and gain some room. air spring assist may be something to look at if u like it low.

I found out today that the owner before me put bigger tires on the rear because the front's would scrape when he would drive it, and put spacers in the suspension. So I guess the first thing I need to do is replace the shocks on it and run from there.

Shocks wont stop the car from bottoming, or tires rubbing! They will improve the ride and handling. New springs are an option, but better yet check your phone book for a local company that re-arcs springs. Much cheaper and better too.
We have a company called Benz Springs that will re-arc, or add leafs to your factory spring pretty cheap. Just tell them your situation and they'll fix it.
Normally they need the springs for 2-3 days, so the car will be imobilzed while they are being re-arc'd.
