Default 96 Suspension

The suspension on my 1996 Camaro is very noisy, it squeaks creeks, and rattles when i hit bumps in the road. Does anyone know where to start or what to look for? I do as much mechanical and electrical work as i can by myself, as i don't trust all garages, and mechanics. Also like to have the suspension little less stiff if possible. Is it better to replace what is bad and leave what is still usable? Or just replace as much as i can. Any and all help is appreciated!

Thanks, Preston

These cars generally are kind of noisy, a lot of times it's something in the interior, so you may not be able to get rid of all the noises.

It wouldn't hurt to replace as much as possible considering the car is 17 years old. I would start by trying to find out if anything is broke or loose. Put the car up *securely* on some stands and see if anything looks or feels like it needs replaced. Grab parts and see if they will shift, wobble, or move in any way they don't seem like they should. Tie-rod ends, ball joints, sway bars links, etc.

As for wanting "less stiff", any lower-priced generic shock brands will probably give you a softer ride, e.g. Monroe, Gabriel, and even KYB maybe.
