which octane should i be running???

No you would not have the LT1 as a stock engine, I was asking jjz28.

The LT1 has the optispark distributor in the front of the engine, center bolt valve covers and the coolant passage in the back of the block.

slvrblt2, your engine has a compression ratio of 8.2:1, which means....low. Your engine would not benefit from running on more than 87 octane. Any comparison of other peoples cars or trucks to your car is totally immaterial.

Compression on my 92 ranger 4.0 is 9.0:1.

i agree with Camaro 69....everyone's engine's are different, and depending on what you have or did to it, then that determines what you should run...just try and see what works best for you...me for instance can't run under 91 or else ill start knocking, but you probably can get away with 87 for now

Let your ears be your guide. If you dont hear a knock on 87, use it. If it knocks, move up a grade.
