Default new carb idle

got the summit 600cfm carb on the 350, it seems to be idling high, initial timing is set at 10d btdc, and the idle screw is backed all the way out and i'm sitting at 1200 rpm my gauge is working because it actually sounds high by ear. i can't seem to find any vacuum leaks, and i do have throttle return springs on there. what else can i look at?

make sure the idle kick up is not kicked up. i have installed a carb and forgot to put plugs in all the vacuum outlets. also check the gasket match with both carb and intake. check the butterfly movement to make sure its not sticking or hitting gaskets or intake mani.

Since the carb is new, it came with an owners manual. Did you look at how to adjust the choke & fast idle setting? Is the choke butterfly opening all the way, and I'm assuming the electrical choke connection is hooked up? Did you adjust the idle jets correctly? Will the engine idle down if you disconnect the gas pedal linkage? You want to make sure the linkage isn't pulling back on the arm at all. The best thing to do, is to make all your carb settings (choke, idle jets, curb idle) with the gas pedal linkage disconnected. Then adjust to fit, and connect the linkage when you're done.
