Id'ing some parts under the hood in a '79
In picture #1I am asking about the round ball on the firewall
In picture #2 I would like to know what it is I am pointing at. I cannot find this anywhere in my emissions diagram for a 350. It is sitting right in front of the distributor, and one of the lines is capped with a screw.
In picture #3 I think what I am pointing is at is for the temperature gauge? It had something attached at one time, but not as long as I have worked on the car. I do have a broken wire under the hood.
In picture #4 What is this, and where does it go? I cannot find it in the wiring diagram for this car.
Thanks a lot as always-

Last picture, sorry about that it would just not allow me to put all the pix in the first post and the file size was ok I think.

Pic 1 is a vacuum tank for the HVAC system. it stores vacuum for the actuators in the heat A/C system.
Pic 2 is a manifold vacuum T fitting. It splits off manifold vacuum for the HVAC, trans vacuum modulator, and Cruise control on some models.
Pic 3 is the coolant temp sender. It should have a green wire hooked to it.
Pic 4 is the oil pressure sender wire. the sender is next to and under the distributor. It looks as if the spade from the sender is broke off in the plug

Did a can of yellow exlpode under the hood? J/K
Your missing the hose for your EFE valve. Did you pull it off? Do you have a vacuum ported switch on the t stat housing not in use?
Its just to help speed up warm up and I think the default position when there is no vacuum is open so it wont choke the exhaust.

OK - I have picture #3 and picture #4 under control, we have a broken green wire coming out of the manifold, and we have a oil pressure guage connected behind the carb. (when I got to it there was a Sunop pressuregauge in the cluster with a broken oil line sticking out of the back of it)
Where should the connection(s) from the HVAC go? As I said, I do have a capped line coming fromwhat you are now telling me is themanifold vacuum T fitting, and now I see there is also a disconnected line back there coming from the top of themanifold vacuum T fitting.
I was getting to the EFE issue...thanks for noticing right away.
There is another capped line on a t fitting in front of the carb on the manifoldwhich my diagram tells me is the EFE-TVS if I am reading it right. Connect the EFE to this t fitting?
OK now we got through that, so lets clear the air on a few things -
This motor was torn half way down as the start of a project, then walked away from over 4 years ago.
My brother had to find someone else to put it back together who possibly new less about these engines and cars then me. Thus the shoddy put together. Before I got to it the car it had not moved in 2 years, dead in the water. It runs and moves now. Completelythanks to what I know, and mostly frominformation and help from here. (and me pulling off 2 flat dry rotted front tires)
Yellow.
Whoever had torn this down started painting a lot of things yellow cause he told my brother it would look "cool". Sure it might if you did it right, not close your eyes and spraypaint.
I get to address engine cosmetic issues IF I can get this car to smog.
Thanks you guys for the constant help.
Reinterest has sparked in this car and he is now buying things for it.
My brotheris now looking for the seals that go around the doors. He has already bought new seals for the T-tops and windows which I need to put in. Water was leaking into the car at every rain..
Thanks

Just saw your sig. You have had many Camaros. I like that. My dad had four, I had two and my bro has one.
The HVAC. The ball should have a vacuum source. Maybe the t on the intake. The line from the ball should also have a T in it that hooks to a line going inside the car. The line might be the plastic tube, if that is what I see, tied in a knot.
The EFE's vacuum source needs to be controled by the engine temp. I think it should go to a ported vacuum swith on the t stat housing.

Picture #1 Shows there are two connections on the HVACthe one on the bottom is the oneI connected to the manifold vacuum T fitting
Picture #2 Shows the fitting I have now connected the EFR to after removing a capped line.
Picture #3 Shows a good view of the manifold vacuum T fitting and it's connections. The line I am pointing at turns from rubber to metal and drops down towards the ground, I havn't got under the car yet to figure where that goes. One capped line remains on the T-fitting.
Yes Mike, I always had a obsession with these cars, and do this day. After owning all these, I have none. Sooner or later I'll put some money together before it's to late. (or convince my brother to give me this one)
