Hood Springs??
Problem fixed!!! I tried three sets of repro. springs thru other leading companys...finally spok with a tech. at national parts depot who was very helpful. He sold me springs from a SS Chevelle.. (bigger and heavier hood).... my hood opens and closes perfectly.... just FYI in case anyone has same problem... hope this saves someone some headaches...
It was the qulity of the reproduction spring. The companies I ordered from, all sold repro springs that were only weighted to hold STOCK hood. Nobody sold anything for a cowl hood. Thats why I went with springs from a chevelle ss hood. Its bigger and heavier. Springs actaully appeared slightly smaller than the camao reproductions, but did the job. Perfect fit, and opens and closes very easlily. Like I said before, companies selling the springs for this hood dont know the weight for them and that there only for stock, flat hoods.. good luck...
Thats what I figured...I mean they look nice and Im sure they work great (if you have the stock hood) but I dont know anybody with a camaro that has the stock hood...there all L88 hoods or a big cowl hood
i have the opposite problem my drivers side of cowl fiberglass hood stays raised up when hood is closed with stock springs. i have been told i need lighter weight springs just havent got around to trying anything yet.
Don't wait too long, as I've heard of glass hoods cracking at the corners from too much spring pressure.

I've seen this on many of our cars but never attributed it to spring pressure. I also thought/heard it was from improperly adjusted or worn hinge. Interesting.
