Help!! What do I have??
I bought a Chevy engine a few years ago and was told it was a 383 stroker. I'm finally getting around to working on it. I took the oil pan off so I can run the numbers off the crank to confirm it was a 400 crank. I ran the numbers and they don't match anything I find. How else can I tell if it's really a 400 crank or a regular 350 crank? I can't tell if there is any clearences for the rod bolts so I'm not sure what it is

Are the heads off yet? A 383 stroker has a .030" overbore (4.030"), and a 3.75" stroke. Measure the travel of a piston from top dead center to bottom dead center. If you come up with 3.75", you have a stroker.
