Hello General questions for a new guy.
Haa! I missed that completely! I just assumed he had an open differential, and didn't notice he might already have posi if he has "limited slip".
Jflickinger, there's nothing "limited" about the slip of an open differential! Once in awhile they do actually both turn the same direction, but it's better odds of winning the lottery!

Yes, 80-90 weight is fine.
My thoughts exactly! 12 bolt was for performance applications, and for it not to be a posi? Did you give it the "turn test".

yup a guy i asked told me to look for springs and i didn't see any...maybe i am mistaken it maybe ten i will double check tomorow....errr well today acctually. i will try top have the pics up tomorow also so you all can se what i am working with!!! i gave it a burnout test when it was running and only ever got the one side to tornado
Sounds suspiciously like it may be a swap, or a worn out posi. You mentioned "looked for springs"? Does this mean you pulled the cover and actually looked inside? If so you should be able to turn the rear wheels and see in the carrier to see either the 4 gears or a spring plate, clutches and springs.
As Camaro 69 said, the easiest test is jack both rear wheels off the ground and turn one. If the other goes reverse to that one it's got no posi. Even a worn posi will hold enough to try to go the same direction.
I've seen guys swap in non posi 12 bolts from trucks and also seen guys strip out the clutches and springs when they get worn out in attempt to save bucks. If that's an original Camaro 12 bolt I've never seen one that wasn't posi.

Yea i pulled the plate off and drained the fluid and what not. i was leaking into my rear brakes so i replaced the seals and i saw four gears. no springs or anything. ummm question for everyone!!!! anyone have a used manual trans mission that will lineup with a 305 v8 i can buy??? mine leaks and is missing the speedo gear...and i'm to lazy to rebuild. so i am just buying a "new" manual trans to install
Is there anything major wrong with your transmission? Finding a replacement is not that dificult, but they are spendy. I hunted for 2 months for a 4 spd for my car that I thought was reasonably priced.
Depending on where your leak is, it should be a pretty simple fix. And as far as the speedo gear, I think those are readily available. My friend just had to put one in his camaro, and didn't have much problem locating one.
