Default Headers wont fit with starter

got the rebuilt 355 put in, having problems with the headers and bolting in the stock starter, starter is hitting the headers. any ideas for a quick fix? not sure what kind of headers they are. i only need about a half inch to fit the bolts in the starter.

hit the headers with a hammer? smash it in a bit?

here is a pic of them

If you can't install the starter first, you will need to dent it. Don't hit the headers directly. Use a piece of pipe on it's side, whack that with the bfh.that will give a nice contour.

Pull the header and put the starter in first, then reinstall the headers. If they hit at that point you can mark it with a pencil and ding the tube in enough to clear.
