Default Needs help finding out why headers wont fit??

hi everyone first off im new to camaro's and this forum, i have a 69 camaro, that i recently brought back to life i took the original 307 out and put it on the shelf for now, and dropped in a supposed 350, now the problem im having is that the camaro has AC, and the power steering gearbox seems in the way also, ive called headman, they said they dont make headers for 69 camaro's with ac, that was my first and 2nd mistake since i originally bought headman headers, longs and then shorts till the gearbox got in the way of the shorts. now i called hooker and they told me a certain model would def. fit my camamo with ac and the gearbox. and it still looking close i just took them out the box, i will try the install tommorow but it doesnt look promising. Also for those that have the 69 with ac, and gearbox which headers did you go with?

I have a 68 without ac and my hooker headers are right on the gear box... I figure when this one burns out, I'll spring for one of those compact gear boxes that give you more room.

Good luck!

I have a '69 with both ac and power steering also. I have hooker competition long tube headers. Used an engine hoist to lift the engine up a few inches to get them on, then lowered the engine back down.

I have a 69 Camaro with 350, PS but not A/C. Doug's Headers D308 had an excellent fit and have nice clearance around the PS. I recommend checking out Doug's for your A/C application.

The engine frame mounts are different for a 307 and a 350. Did you swap out the frame mounts?
