He's right here. 350s only came in Z/28s. You can type the VIN in on here and this should confirm whether it's a original Z or not. Ignore that it says '97 Pontiac Firebird. That's what I was looking up when I originally book marked it.

Would love to see how the wheels come out. I have a set of 4 from a 94 Z28 that have the clearcoat pealing. Anyone know of a place that restores to new condition? I have a set of like new wheels, but once I put them in, thrill likely get beat up as well. I'd like to have a spair set of nice cond wheels. Thanks for your help guys!

See, it says base, BUT it came with 350. Somethings wierd about that..
As for the rims, they'll be painted when I get the car painted, probably orange.

Got another question for you guys, whats a fair priced tire, to buy new? Good all weather, highway tire that'll LAST.?
And also, I love the look of the new halo headlights, so im definetly getting some, eventually. Any recommendations as to where to get some online? I want some orange halo's or if thats not possible, some bright white with smoked lense would look mean!

There are alot of different styles of halo headlights on ebay, they dont have to be camaro specific,do a search for 7" round halo on ebay and alot should come up.

That decoder is a little less accurate than I thought, but with a little research, that car has to be a Z. 8th digit was L and in 1981 that designated a 350 as the engine. 350s only came with the Z28 package.

If you really wanna verify this, find the RPO codes and look for 1FP87. That was the RPO code for the Z28 option.

I thought Z28 was the RPO code for a Z/28? thats how the Z/28 came to be, is it not?
and maybe someone can clarify if im incorrect, but back in the late 70's early 80's wasnt the Z/28 package a dealer installed thing? they got camaros with 350's and then installed the hood scoops and spoilers, thats why the T-Top cars looked different somtimes becuase it was an aftermarket option and some of them had really wide "T" bars and real narrow tops?

No,Z28 was a factory option,as it will be stamped on the cowl tag,if it is a norwood car it will say Z28 on the tag,if it is a van nuys car it will simply have the number 8 stamped on the tag.As far as the t-tops,i believe some were factory and others were a dealer add on,as there are fisher t-top cars and then are also cars with t-tops from cars and concepts or something like that.

THAT'S COOL info to know BM. Didn't know that GM had two ways of labeling options. Very cool!!!
