Talking exhaust question!!

what sounds better... the exhaust turned down rite after the muffler or run the pipes all the way out the back after the muffler? i know acouple of people with the same engine and muffler (supper 44) and one is ran out the back and is loud as heck and the one dumped behind the muffler is rly quiet. but ive also seen the oposite where one is quiet and one is loud. i was just wondering whats the best sound. fyi i want loud lol

Want it loud inside or outside?
Running it out the back will be slightly quieter outside, but much quieter inside the car. Turning them down under the car will make it louder outside, and very loud inside.
If you want it louder go to a less restrictive muffler, and a 2.5"-3" exhaust system. Might not perform as well as a more restrictive muffler and 2.5" exhaust, but it will sound loud.

If you want it loud, then go with straight thru glasspacks, and 2.5" exhaust turned down right after the mufflers. Probably wish you didn't turn them down affter you drive it for a few hours, but it's easy to go back and change them later.

I couldnt agree more.A car i used to have,i put flowmaster 40 series on it,and dumped them right at the back of the muffler, the mufflers were right under the front seats. It sounded mean as hell outside the car, problem was it was obnoxiously loud inside the car too.So loud that you could not have a conversation with someone in the car,and there was no point in having a stereo,i could'nt hear it anyway haha. That lasted about a week before i finally ran the pipes all the way out the back, still sounded good, just a bit mellower, and you could actually hear people in the car.

There is a 3rd option, which i have used on several hotrods, you could also run some pipe out the mufflers then bend 'em on a 45 degree angle plus or minus a few degrees, so they look right and run em out right in front of your rear tires. Cut the ends on an angle that more or less matches the body line of the car. It sounds pretty good and you can still hear the folks in the back seat. good luck.

If you really want the best of both worlds get a decent mellow exhaust system, then have electric cutouts welded in so you can flick a switch and open them up when you want it really loud. They can also be opened up in various amounts by simply releasing the switch when it's as loud as you want. They aren't cheap, but it will give you the option of having it really loud, or mellow.
