My engine latley wants to stall when put into reverse or drive, and sometimes when it is idling. I had the battery and alternator checked and these have plenty of voltage. I adjusted the idle up and also the mixture bit it is not seeming to help.
Any suggestions on what to check for next

whats under the hood? 305? 350? stock? rebuilt?

my 78 with a stock 305 will want to stall on a cold start but if i let it warm up for about 7-10 min it runs great

 

Maybe check the fuel filter. My buddy's '78 Chevy truck did the exact same thing.

 

Give it a tune up, and a new fuel filter.
