what is a stall and what does it do?
Yes it is very much worth it. Don't go lower than 3500 rpm, I don't care what anyone tells you. PM me if you have questions about what to go with. I run a 4000 Yank in my car and it dropped me .4 tenths in the 1/4.
This is a very complicated area. The stall speed is supposed to be the RPM at which a torque converter reaches FULL lockup. As most of You know, a torque converter cannot reach a true lockup point unless it has an internal clutch that locks up with a solenoid activated pressure increase. The larger diameter a converter has, the lower the lockup point will be with the same fin angle. The fin angle and height is what controls the fluid speed, The higher the fluid speed and volume, the more friction You have creating a lockup effect . That's why a smaller diameter converter is needed to achieve a high stall speed, less volume and fluid speed. I hope this explains what alot of You percieve as Voodoo, the fluid acts as a liquid clutch.
