Just a decent standard paint job will cost that much up here if you can find someone willing to do it.
All the damn body shops around here seem to just want to do insurance repairs on late model stuff,I've been looking around for a paint job on the '78 GMC I've been restomoding and a lot of shops simply don't do "completes" paint only.
The ones that will aren't cheap starting out around $2500 for paint only.

Hood supports? Does your car not support the hinges from the fenders like earlier Camaros?
My hood bolts directly to the fenders (outter) and adj. is done in the hinges to get both height and forward adjustment. If the back edge lines up, then the front will have a proper gap.
