Default Engine Problems

Just joined the sight because i am in need of some help. Getting my 80 Camaro out and running for the season and it has developed a weird symptom since i put it away last year for the winter. when I floor it at around 4k RPMs it starts to break up and misfire, but if i were to not open the secondaries and just allow the engine to accelerate on the primaries it doesn't do it. I have put new plugs and wires in, re-built the carb, and replaced the spark plugs. when i did that it seemed to be better for about one day, but now it is back. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Engine info:

-350
- 650 holley carb
-t5 5 speed
- the engine was re-built in 2013

Check for corrosion on the contacts inside the distributor cap and rotor. Could have accumulated some crud in there.

Thanks, I just got a chance this morning to get in the cap and inspect, and you were right there was a bit of crud on the points. So I cleaned them using an electrical cleaning spray, and then hit them with a bit of sand paper. Reassembled it and try to fire it up but I get nothing now. I don't quite understand what could possibly wrong with it I didn't change anything just took it off and put it back on.

Since an '80, and it is equipped with HEI, ensure the center button has not fallen out between coil and rotor.
