Cam doesn't sound radical enough to have any vacuum issues. You should have plenty of vacuum with it. I'd question if there may be a vacuum leak or a bad booster( was it new with the new brakes?).
You might want to call the folks who rebuilt it and tell them about the brake issue and see if they might check to see if there are any leaks.

Agreed... if it's a 270 duration cam I don't think you should be seeing any problems with the brakes not having enough vacuum. My 280h cam had plenty of vacuum for braking. When you're coasting to a stop your engine vacuum usually climbs well above what it has at idle.

Default Speaking of compression...

I was doing some tuning on the small block in my '70 last week and thought I'd go ahead and run a compression check. A little background, I bought this car several years ago in Lancaster California. It had been a local car all it's life and sometime early on was stripped down and used as a bracket car, still had the original paint.

Anyway the guy a bought it from was in the process of restoring it back to street use but lost interest. It had a freshly worked small block that the owner didn't know anything about other than it was stout, a fact that I can attest to! So I start checking compression and I'm a bit surprised that I get an average of about 210.

I start runing numbers and find out I've got a high nickel four bolt main block, desirable heads and since I popped off a valve cover realized it's got a solid lifter cam as well. I don't have a clue what the comp. ratio is but it's a challenge to get it tuned for pump premium fuel. If I'd known this motor was as radical as it is I'd have swapped it out before I had it repainted.... I hate to risk scratching it now!
