carb & starter
really need more info to troubleshoot the popping but, it could be out of time. that would be the first thing i checked. other reasons for the popping could be a burnt valve, flat cam lobe, dead lifter, bent pushrod. the starter sounds like a bad solenoid. sick
hmmmmmmmmm .... well in that case i would say that you need to readjust the valves. thats normal on a new engine. just make sure the engine is hot when you do it. not sure if you know how or not so i'll give ya a quick run down. warm the engine pull the valve covers using a pull bar and socket turn the engine at the harmonic balancer. when ever one valve on the cylinder your adjusting just starts to come up, adjust the other valve by loosening it til the pushrod spins freely. then while spinning the pushrod tighten the nut til you feel just the slightest resistance. then tighten 1/2 turn. do that to each of the valves. no biggie. if that don't fix the problem you may need to check and see if your cam is degreed properly. not sure what your setup is but you most likely have an adjustable cam gear. check the timing tho before you do anything. that starter problem stills sounds like a bad solenoid. sometimes they are bad from the factory. sick
if your not mechanically inclined you need to have someone check it out for you. them breakin adjustments need to be done or you could cause serious damage to engine. carb popping on a new engine isn't something to sneeze at. minor adjustments now or major bucks later. sick

Call the place where you got the motor from and tell them whats going on , just incase there might be a problem with the motor.
