The best answer is...it depends. What type of spacer did you get? The 4 hole style is designed to give better low-end response. The open style is designed to give more high rpm power (think of it as a paired down version of those cool tunnel-rams you see). Then there are combination spacers that work throughout the entire rpm range. If nothing else, it is putting the carb a little further away from intake manifold heat. Just be sure to check your hood clearance before you slam the hood and dimple it.

its the one with the 4 holes in it..witch if thats low end it makes me happy cuz my car seems to need some help it the low end...and im pretty sure it will fit under the hood....cuz i bougth a 1inch spacer and i have maby an inch and a quarter clearence in the scoop above the carb...also for the heat thing....he guy said that he ordered a newer style one made out of an almost plastic material thats suppose to disperse heat better..idk well see how it goes tomarrow

There are two kinds of plastic/almost plastic spacers. One is a true el-cheapo plastic, and the better one is a phenoloic material, which is basically a glass/resin that is molded under heat and pressure. And, it's not that it disperses the heat, but it doesn't allow heat to transfer through as much as aluminum will. Since you're referring to a "newer style" that's probably the one you're getting.
