Camaro Questions
So as a total noob to this I would like to know this car a little better.
I have always liked old american muscle cars.
In Europe where I live we dont see alot of old Camaros, here BMW's Audi's and Mercedes's rule the streets so I dont know much about camaros, never worked on it and so on...
I would like to know more about body parts. Are they interchangeable and so on. I found out there was differences on models from 1970-73 and from 73-81.
Will front split bumper from 70-73 fit on a 74-81?
Will 1970-73 Camaro Rear Body Panel fit on a 74-81?
Are doors, fenders, quarter panel interchangeable?
I found out about this Classic Industries | Restoration Parts | Mopar Parts | Camaro Parts | Firebird Parts | Nova Parts | Impala Parts | GM Truck Parts | Tri-Five Chevy Parts website, where they sell camaro parts. So I did a little search and found alot of parts.
I got my eye on a 1980 Camaro, great for restoration. But I prefer 70-73 look, so will body parts from 70-73 fit on a 1980 model?

no 70-73 is different from 74-81 but if you have a donor car or the ability to purchase the whole front end as the radiator support is different. since rad support is different that meand headerpanel front end all valences and fenders different

I know fenders and bumpers are not the same. But if I replace them both will it be possible to fit them on the car? Or do later models (74+) have totaly diferent mounting palces?
Is hood the same?
I know rear pannel (where the lights and a chrome bumper are) will have to be welded on.

This big problem with converting a 75-81 Camaro to look like a 70-73 is the large back window.
1974 is an odd ball year it has the small back window like the 73 and the front end and tail light off the 75. The metal work needed to convert the window is a lot more complicated then then changing the front clip or the tail lights. The area around the window should be considered structural because it what stops the car from twisting.
There is an advantage to what you are thinking of doing. I don't remember the year but the floor boards where strengthen in the mid to upper 70's to handle the T-top. early t-top cars are not the safest things to drive.
Full quarter panels are not interchangeable, The main difference is the tail lights and window. Many partial repair panels will work with any year. As stated above you will need the front clip, not just the fenders and the front part. The clip bolts on with 6 bolts and it includes a lot of support and brackets. I am sure it can all be bought new but here in the US you could find non-titled donor car for less. I believe all second gen hoods interchange.
Course if you know a fabricator anything is possible
