break light staying on
Brake light in the dash board is staying on for most of the time. It went off for a short time and when i hit the gas hard it came back on again. Can it be the e-brake switch? i pulled the wire off the switch no difference still on. i only hooked up the driver side cable for the e brake will this cause a problem with the light i didn't think it would.

RE: break light staying on
There is a switch that attaches to a bracket under the dash, usually with plastic threads, that the brake pedal turns on and off when you hit the brakes. When the threads get worn, the switch will eventually push too far foreward and when you let off the pedal the switch wont stay depressed leaving your brake lights on indefinately. Any parts store should carry one, usually about 10 bucks.

Are you talking about your brake tail lights, or the "brake" light in the dash?
Since you can see it go on while driving, I suppose you're talking about the dash light. That light goes on not only when the emergency brake is used, but also when there is a problem with your brake's hydraulic system, due to a loss of pressure from air in the lines, or a leak.

RE: break light staying on
There is a pressure switch either in your junction block, or proportioning valve located below your master cylinder. If your brake light goes on when you hit the brake pedal, you have something that needs to be looked at. It could be something as simple as air in a line, which bleeding the brakes can take care of. You could also have a leak somewhere, or a bad master cylinder that's blowing-by internally. Have you checked the fluid level in the master?
