I have a 1979 Camaro I just received and it used to be a 350 car but is swapped to a 305 and it turns over and tries to start when I turn the key on not trying to start it. Any ideas?

 

Yes. Look at the small starter wires hooked to the solenoid. Should be one on each terminal, and they're probably either swapped wrong, or two are both on the same side. One hooks to the alternator, so it's feeding back when you turn the key on. Swap to the other terminal and it should work.
