78 camaro transmission

RE: 78 camaro transmission
Depends on what your resources are and how you plan to drive it. A 350 THM is a good tranny and can be beefed up to handle some horsepower. It is also your most economical choice. A turbo 400 could be substituted for the 350 and is a little more stout. Either of these will bolt in to your car but you will pay a little more for the 400. If you want to change your gear ratio at the same time to make the car quicker, I would recommend a 700R4 which is a four speed/overdrive transmission. The extra gear helps with gas mileage. Drawback is the R4 is more expensive and it takes more work to install.

Cool thanks, does anyone know any good/well pricedtransmission shops in the Dallas/Metroplex area?

when I tell some people that, they justsay "then I just won't tell them that". I think that is a very stupid way to go. do you really think they can't tell if you have beaten on the tranny when they take it apart. when I went through my learning many years ago, one of the local shops actually told me not to be hnest with the shops if I wanted them to stand behind it.
me answer to him was that I am honest because I wanted the right tranny for the job, not just something with a POS shiftkit that would breakdown on me
just a little something for youto think about
