383 vortec carb CFM?
he wanted 2.5, we convinced him to go 2.25 but i was still un able to get it between the tank and leaf spring, had to come under the tank. then angle up. looks a little awkward.
my exhaust comes out between the spring and tank but is at a funny angle..
these cars must be a major PITA to do exhaust on.
so does anyone have a 670 Holley they want to donate to a worthy cause?

I thought about going 3" on my BBC, but didn't want the possible hassles of clearance and possibly rattles if I didn't get things to clear. Figured the smaller 2.5" might give better lowend response too.
I went over this with some friends, a couple gave me the your gonna loss low end torque. With 400 plus down low I'm good.
The Magnaflow set up is tight and will need tweeks but I've seen them on our cars. I can't see a 2 1/5" being an issue though.

i did from the headers back to just before the pumpkin then ran the passenger side out the back last night,
the ASE mechanic was working on the driver side when i got there this morning...
took him from 8:30 till 12 to get that piece up over the axle and out the back...

i'm also a little irritated at how he did the rear hangers....

if my car looked like this when i came to pick it up, i wouldnt pay till it was done to my liking...

No offense, but if someone routed my exhaust system under my gas tank I wouldn't pay at all. Would have been nice if he'd mirror the pipes so they looked the same from the rear! I also would never install mufflers that close to the headers. The more tailpipe you have after the muffler, the more the exhaust will "rap" when you let off, or rev the engine. A longer primary pipe before the muffler will help it work.
Most kits situate the mufflers under the backseat, then route the tailpipe over the axle and outside the springs. Here's what mine looks like. A 4 hr. job at home in the driveway, with a $189 kit:

I'm sorry that is the worst exhaust I have ever seen. Not only would I not pay for it, I would be contemplating kicking the crap out of the installer. I love my exhaust shop even more now. Been going there for over 12 yrs and know the number by heart.
It looks like the rear end is gonna hit the over the axle pipes. I would get the kit Vall has immediately. Then have them pull it all off and give me my money back plus a $20 stupid tax.

hmmm. that looks pretty good. i didn't even consider going outside the spring...
of course, being it was my first exhaust job, i sort of had to listen to what my boss and Mr. ASE had to say and go from there, so they more or less turned me loose on it, and sort of didn't at the same time.
i was the one that made the call on the mufflers, didn't figure location was such a factor and i was just trying to get it up off the ground.
it got so late when i was trying to get it finished that i had to run the pipe under the tank because ASE Man kept telling me it was "good enough" and just to weld it.
of course... looking at what he did this morning...mine was more than just good enough
so do you think that i can clear 3 inch coming out the back just like yours is? i'm going to be running 15x8 Basset D window wheels, but doubt i'll be as stuffed as you are in the back.
