Default 1978 project

Ok guys. This is my first chevy build. Born a Mustang kid. But when I seen this camaro posted on craigslist and went and looked at it 1,000$ was just to under priced so i figured why not try something diffrent. So I bought it.

Ok now for the good. The body and interior is all original.

Now for the bad. I tood the 4 speed manual out of it and put a TH400 in its place. It is bolted to the back of a 350 (stock other then boarded 30 over). But now i am having transmission crossmember problems. The spot on the TH400 for the mount to bolt to is about 7 inches behind were I need it to be. How can I fix this problem.

Get a 400 crossmember. I belive that the 400 is the only oddball. What kind of tranny did you pull? And welcome.

The problem is not the cross member the crossmember fits the tranny perfect. The problem I am having is the simple fact that there is only one set of crossmember mounting holes in my frame rails. I need another set about 7 inches toward the back to mount the crossmember on. All I know as far as information on the tranny that was pulled is that it was a 4 speed manual and not worth .02.

Hey, welcome to the forum.

I hope you have a propper drive shaft with that th400 cause a stock one won't fit (to long). The 4 speed manual trannies are awsome, i would have left it in if it was in working order, you should check it out see what it is, maybe it's a muncie?

good luck
joe
