UPDATE

Well the cars home from the body shop now, they did an excellant job resealing both the rear and front windows so no more leaks. They also did the left side of the trunk pan repainted both sides etc, the bottoms of both front fenders were also done up as well cant even tell they were done the paint matches almost perfect.

The bad news is i was coming home from my weekly casino trip and after i got on the pedal the car began bogging down and didnt want to keep the 55mph speed i had it up to. I couldnt even get the car to go above 35 or it would just start flooding the motor and backfiring. It was acting as if the vacuum line was taken off the tranmission not shifting. I got to a friends house and let it cool down hopped in a half hour later and did it again. Its wierd because I was able to accelerate up to around 50 and it would do it again and not let me keep the speed going. Did it the whole way home, people who have been reading my posts, would it be safe to say the motor is on its final leg then or something? I checked the vaccuum line and its not loose or undone on the trans. Is this motor just losing its power now? Id like to know luckly i have my daily driver to drive around as needed and its almost winter too, The pro shop that i know of wants about $3000 to completely take out, rebuild up to 300 350hp and then drop back into the car.

man, for 3k go the extra mile and get something like this GM Performance 19210007 - GM Performance 350 C.I.D. 330 HP Engine Assemblies - Overview - SummitRacing.com

You can use all your accessory drives and go for a 200 dollar intake and your set. you already rebuilt your carb, and at least with this one you'll have a warranty and not have to worry about if they did a good enough job on the rebuild. Then sell your old one for a couple hundred to make up some of the extra cost.

Idk that's what i would do if you weren't trying to keep it numbers matching (if that's what it is now).

Default you don;t need an engine.

You don't need an engine, you need a mechanic!. First edelbrock carbs are tricky to tune. When you and your buddy were in the valve covers, did you tighten any of those nutty things on the rocker arms?
Bring the car to a mechanic and tell him everything that you have touched. Bring him what ever carb you took off also.

Save your money for a stereo or windshield stickers.

Default Yeah

its the original motor and i want to keep it that way. No we never did any tightening to the rocker arms or springs neither of us believed any of that would be needed to tune the car. I will try to get it into a shop but it might not be before spring time.

Did You take off a Quadrajet? If so slap it on and test. It's a quick swap and costs nothing? Check with your buddy and make sure he did not tighten valve lash. If so loosen them and let them tick, See if this cures your fartin and such.

Ive seen ya post this before whats this 5 4 3 2 **** you keep posting, if you dont mind please quit doing it, for one i highly doubt the motor is even close to blowing up, and 2ndly its something in the valve train or vacuum thats causing it.
