RE: 1968 SS396 verification
here are the numbers from the tag on the firewall.
ST 68-12437 NOR 737702
TR 712 ZZ
I know the basic stuff like color ( British Green ) and made in the Norwood plant.
The heater hose tubes do poke through the heater cover. I dont beleive this was added because it wasnt sold to me by someone trying to get more money for a BB car and when I got the car it had never been restored in any way. It also has the original Hood with the stacks ( or so I think it is original ).

There would be another code, on the tag, directly below the 'ZZ'. This would be ' Z27 or Z28 or something like that. There is no code there so, I thinkits a stock, plane jane Camaro coupe.I could be wrong though. The hood with the four stacks was for the 396SS, if it were two thin ribbed inserts instead, it was for the SS350.

Their are a few more things to look for on a big block camaro such as the heater box will be further away from the engine, 3/8 fuel line that were put on Z/28s and big blocks. Also the springs had two or three more coils than small blocks for weight purposes, and of course the 12 bolt rear.
