Default 1/8 et difference with gear swap

Any body have any guesses as to the 1/8 mile difference in et for a 2.41 to 3.42 gear swap. Finishing up swap Saturday, so I won't get to track this Friday. Just a guess as I know the only way to tell is run it. Ran a couple bench races and calculators and I'm coming up with .4-.6. Anyone done a similar swap. Ran a best of 7.98@97 with 2.41's.

Too many variables to guess, traction and shift points come to mind.

If I had to pull something out of my ***, I'd say you'll see a tenth or two difference IF the car hooks up

Yea I know I won't know till I run it. Just guessing what I expect. I know I still owe you a video from last thread I had, but it has been a rough month time wise. I will have at track soon. Traction will definitely be an issue. Thanks.

I've done a similar swap several times, but never ran them with the higher gear before going to lower ratios. So can't tell you how much faster you'll be. Guess you'll be the one to tell us after Friday!

Yeah I will get a video and some time slips. I really don't know what to expect, but I could tell a difference as soon as I put in gear. I think I need to adjust just a little more on backlash before getting too hard. It started whining just a little and we pretty much just set to best pattern. I found a dial indicator so I will get better. May rain tomorrow, so I don't know if they are gonna call off, but I will at least get some kind of video up. Thanks.

Well got rained out Friday, but ended up being a good thing. Drove a few miles and developed a major whine and howl. I cannot get this gear to run quietly, so I'm not gonna get to track. Will be ordering a new gear and installing. I have seen used gears installed just fine, but the general consensus is that I won't be able to get this gear to ever quieten down any. I'm not an expert and that is what I was told by people that have installed many. One told me the pattern that was on it looked like it came out of a 4wd front axle. I don't know, just putting in an update. Should get gear ordered Friday. Gonna get 3.42 Richmond gear set. I did get to drive it for a few miles. Kinda reminds me of when I put nos on my old vette many years ago as far as the difference it feels like in seat of pants. Can't wait to get to track! 1st is a wash it will not hook anywhere in 1st at full throttle. 20 roll spins through 1st and half of second and both are laying em down.

Sounds like you really need some good sticky tires! What are you running in the rear that wont hook up? I'm running M&H drag radials 275-60-15 on my Austin, and they hook better than anything I've ever used. Running 10-30-15 Hurst cheater slicks behind my Falcon, and they're almost as good. I can punch the Falcon at a rolling 10 mph and lift the left front wheel.

Running Hankook ventus H101 265/50/15. Just street tires but tamed down the 2.41's. Have to be in either 2nd, short shift, or pedal it now, but it hooks pretty well for stock suspension with subframe connectors and polyurethane bushings only thing done. Had 275/60/15's before, but went down bc of gear. Can easily go back on next set, but I will have to get slicks for track as well as trac bars. It pulls hard, but I'm doubting I'll be pulling any wheels soon, but maybe one day. Here's some install pics.

Got the new gear in this weekend. Quiet as a mouse now. Will finally get back to track friday if it doesnt rain. Got broke in yesterday and really leaned on it last night. Never thought it would be this different. Will get some times with slips this weekend. New gear was easier to set up for sure.
