Default how wide can i go?

Can I install 255/60-15 on the rear of my 1969 Camaro without using air shocks?

Thanks for the help.

It will all depend on the backspacing of the wheels you're using.

Hey guys,
Quick question (aren't they all?) I've got a '67 and I'm getting ready to do the suspension thing. I'd like to drop the car 2" up front and 1.5"-2" in the rear. It's an everyday type car (usually on the weekends) and I have a chance to by a nice set of tires which appear to be the "largest" things to fit under the fenders, but in all of the reading I've been doing, "most" of the threads are for "stock" height suspension. How much of a difference does it make with a 2" drop all around?

I plan on going with 4 whl disc brakes. I know the 17x8 (5"bs - 245/40) seem to be the number up front, and the 17x9.5 (5.5" bs - 275/40) seems to be the number in the rear. I do NOT want to rub with this car. - - - - Now I'm reading with the tubular upper/lower control arms that you really need 18s to clear the ball joints?? True?

Thanks

Just checking in again. So the numbers we all hear about are for "stock" suspension, but what about a LOWERED suspension?

I guess I'll make all of the necessary changes and "then" take all new measurements to see just what I can stuff under the fender lips.

Current 255/60-15 rears just fit on the 8" Rally wheels. Only get a slight kiss on one side when making a RH turn into my steeply angled driveway.

Still debating on whether to go Cragar or something bigger. There's something beyond classic with the cragars. I found a place that will either cut or re-hoop them too. I would like a slightly deeper look than the 8" rears, maybe 9" if I could figure out a backspace that would keep the tire inside the fender and not hitting the shock LOL!
