265/40R18 would be better. And it should fit your stock rims....

i found that my stock wheels i think are 7.5 and for the BF g force 245/40/18 Jegs said that it requires a 8 to 9.5 widith to run it so i know i cant run a 265/40/18

They say you cannot run that but its completely false. I was told and the book says that for a 7.0 wheel, I cannot run a 245/40r18, but I did it anyways.

I don't know why you would run a smaller tire on your Camaro than it had stock. Going to a 40 series is going to look foolish. Originally it had a 55 series.

I know I recommended you a 40 series but only because you increased the width.

265= width of tire in MM

40= percentage of width to equal sidewall of tire

18= rim size

When you go from having a 245/55R18 factory, and then you go down to a 40 series that is a no no. You would have to go up to a 265 to get a 40 series because 40% of 265mm> 40% of 245MM. The OD (overall diameter) of a 245/55R18 is 28.5(inches), the OD of a 265/40R18 is 26.5(inches). You would be shorter by a bit but a lot better than the OD of a 245/40R18.

I wish that I could say get a 265/50r18 but there is no such size.

EDIT!! Nitto has a 265/50R18 available in a NT555 which would be the best option for your need.

Since its close to the original height, it should be fine. And the tire should be a little bit more comfortable. Start the new ones on the rear to see if you get a traction increase due to the bigger paw print
