head scratcher needs help
I have a problem with my car shutting off ('67RS) the problem is intermitant, and occurs when braking for a turn. The motor will shut off as if you killed the ignition just about the time I have come to a stop prior to turning. The motor will start right up again no questions asked. I have noticed it has not happened yet when i have not used the turn signal to turn. But - it does not happen everytime i do use the turn signal. I believe the car has been converted to a 4-spd on flr from 3spd on column, but has the original column & wheel. It also has a fairly fresh dual point distributor & MSD ignition which seems to be running well. I really think it is an electrical/ignition problem but not sure where to begin. anybody have any advice or experience with this issue.
sure sounds like your on the right track. unfortunatly it looks like your gona have to tear into the column. could also run a new wire from the ignition to the coil but thats kinda funky. good for the short term.
The turn signal could be a coincidence, especially since you say it's not consistent. I would check the float level in the carburetor.
If the level is set too low, slamming around a turn could momentarily starve the engine.
