Unhappy tore into the 305 this morning. found a head scratcher

ok 305 engines are poo for power. have restrictive heads and from what i was told only flat tappet cam and lifters...

i pulled my heads.
1. i found i have dished pistons with quad valve reliefs. are they stock? the other 305s ive torn apart had flat tops.

2. measured the intake and exhaust valves. they are same size as whats in my vortec heads. not 305 heads??

3.i found roller lifters and lifter guides.....i thought 305 didnt come with roller lifters.

this is aggravatig cus i have extra flat tappet cams and lifters new i was gonna throw one in an use some 350 heads but now idk.

how long would it last if i swapped to flat tappet?

Measure the bores. That sounds like a 350

block says 5.0 litre an its vin matched orig motor

but obviously not original

now that i think back. id spank on any 305 camaro , monte, t/a and so on.
i just thought it was the 3.73 gear letting the engine work less.

87 and up engines used a roller cam. 4.3 v6, 305, and 350 all went to roller in 87. the piston in my 86 305 were dished with four valve reliefs cut into them. what size are the valves?
