Default Engine Hesitation and exhaust

Recently I tried to adjust my carb (LOL) and went for a drive. After I drove for a while the engine seemed to miss or hesitate as I drove doen the road. I have a BB with a Holley 4 barrel. I'm assuming that I may have fouled a plug.

Is there any way to get rid of the exhaust smell?[:-]

Yes, change the plug and adjust the carb properly. If you are fouling plugs, the mixture is too rich, or the engine is burning too much oil, or you are using the wrong plugs.

What else did you do besides adjust the carb?

Thanks for the reply

All I did was adjust the idle and the air fuel mix.
(I have recently installed a new tranny th350)

I assume that I fouled a plug? I have been having trouble with a strong gas smell from the exhaust and was hoping to help the situation. It seems I have made it worse. I was thinking that I may need to purchase a new carb. Any suggestions.

You probibly fouled a plug from runningso rich. To check for a fouled plug pull each plug one at a time while the engine is running and if you pull a plug and it runs worse that means the plug is good. But if you pull a plug and it dosn't run any different than you have a fouled plug. Also remember when adjusting the mixture screws that turning them left is rich and right is lean. It should idle around 700-800 rpm.
