1967 Camaro having problems with fuel gauge and generator light stays, fuel gauge reads half tank all the time and the generator light stays on when the car is running, I checked all grounds and even added more to the cluster is to many grounds a bad thing any ideas what to do next?

 

For starters, have you checked the voltage output at the alternator? Should be in the 14 volt range. Then check voltage at the battery with the engine running. It will (should) be in the 13+ volt range. If you're reading 12 volts or less at the battery, I would suspect your voltage regulator is bad. If you still have a stock charging setup, the regulator is mounted on the radiator core support, drivers side. Try whacking it with the handle of a screwdriver and see if the light goes out. Either way, I would replace the regulator if the battery isn't receiving juice from the alternator.

 

Just fixed the generator light problem, but now gas gauge just reads 3 oclock I know this has been discussed before but can anyone refresh my memory.

 

Did I mention the ground? LOL.

 

Hey i also have a 1967 camaro and i actually was just experiencing the same problem. Me an one of my friends tried putting in different gauges. My fuel gauge always read on full. We had to have my dad re do everything because we did not hook it up right. Did you do some work on your car your self? You might want to take it in and have a professional look at it. Its probably a really minor problem.
