Default 69 Z28 Block ID???

So I purchased this Z28 after doing some #'s research on websites. I still have a concern about the motor. The firewall stamp for the body build date is 2nd week of Jan. On the engine I am only able to locate the stamp V0108DZ...but there is not a partial vin located next to it on the block below the head like all diagrams show. "Supposedly the car has a different set of heads on it". Think maybe somebody re stamped that on it after the others may have been machined off? Any thoughts??? Is there anywhere else on this motor that I can get an id # from? Ive read that there is a set by the oil filter, but without doing some extensive cleaning I have not seen anything there. Good thing is the Muncie tranny stamp matches the partial vin of the car, and the rear end is correct, just still leary of this motor. Thanks!!

Look for the casting date on the bellhousing flange and see how it corresponds to the body tag. V0108 engine stamp = Flint engine plant, assembled on January 8 (the year will be determined by the casting date). The next step would be to look for the partial VIN on the oil filter boss.

you have a DZ302 if your block says anything about DZ. fantastic engine, only produced for 2.5 years or so with the 67/8/9 Camaros. That engine would tach 9k and hold it all day. 327 block, 283 crank, bore of a 350, all the torque you could ever want and the horses to back it up. you're one lucky sonovab####

This would be the real estate on the drvr side of bellhousing flange - the furthest most left vertical side.
VIN numbers were stamped into the rough cast surface.
Cylinder casting date is under the valve covers in case you want to check the date for matching either the engine block or Camaro.
DZ was only for the '69 year; '67 & '68 are MO.
