Physically make sure the valves really are 2.20/1.6, and not just going by the casting number. 1.94/1.5 valves were also used with that casting. Those are called double hump heads, and were good performance heads back in the day. There are more modern or aftermarket heads that surpass those, so you might want to consider that if the guy doesn't want to sell those for a reasonable price. Also, those heads won't have front accessory mounting holes that your current ones have (and are using), so keep in mind the extra cost for buying, or work for fabricating custom brackets.

if a dime barely fits between the intake and exh. valve they are 2.02 if a nickel fits between them they are 1.94
that said they will deffinetly increase your hp over your 1.72 heads!!
the best money you can spend for hp is in the cam and heads cause if it cant breath it cant run!!!!
if they are freshly rebuild ready to go 3-400 is fair if they need rebuilt i wouldnt give more than 100
like others said there are better more modern aftermarket performance heads out there for 500 on up..

One other consideration is have they ever had the seats hardened? If not you'll want to get them hardened since we no longer have Regular gas anymore and since there is not lead in gas anymore, there is nothing to lubricate, which is why you need the seats hardened.
