found heads and now have a cam question
I am building a 350 to drop into my camaro.
I have a block which i will either hone and keep the boars stock or i will go .020 or .030 over.
I also have heads for my 350 build
casting # 3927186
intake 2.02" exhaust 1.6" chamber CC 63.305
a little porting done to them.
stainless 2.02 in manley intake valves
metal viton seals
3/8 rocker stud
magnaflux by the shop that did the work
Now for my cam question. I have been checking CL because you never know what someone could be selling.
the cam is This one
Comp cam Grind# 268H
Intake 268 exhaust 268
RPM Range 1500 to 5500

First with the heads, did you get them for a good price? Check the casting date on those, because they might be valuable. If they have mounting holes on the front, which I can see the bosses, then they are 1969 and newer. That casting was used on the 302 Z/28 in 68 & 69, and the 350 Z/28 in 70-72. Either way, I think you may have something there. Take that small chamber size into consideration too. It's going to up your compression ratio, unless your engine already had 63.3 cc heads (they refer to them as 64 cc heads). So, you might want to consider selling those heads, if they are what they sound like, and buy better aftermarket heads. Although those heads were good back in the day, they don't even compare to what you can buy today. You're probably wondering then why they might be valuable if you can buy something better in the aftermarket. They have value to someone who is restoring a Z/28 for originality down to the nut, and wants to use the "correct" heads.
What are you asking about the cam, if it's a good grind? It's not bad, especially considering it's a 50 state legal cam. If your car is going to need to get sniffer tested, you probably don't want to go beyond that.

Now for my question about the cam. Legal is not a concern as i dont have any emission control stuff on my car now and im not going to sort that all out when i drop a new engine into my car.
What i want is a mild street build that sounds cool and fast. Im looking for maybe 350 HP out of my 350.
I already emailed the guy he wants $150 for the cam new in Box, lifters from comp cam NIB, stock oil pump NIB, double roller gears and chain NIB, and some msc. gaskets

I just looked those heads up in my casting numbers book as another reference, and it says those heads were also used on the 350 Vette and Nova SS350 for 69. They're the same heads, which means they may not have come off a Z/28, but they still would be the right ones to put back on...if you know what I mean.

3927186 heads on flebay
Suckers beware...This guy's asking $950 for the pair, but he's misrepresenting them a bit. His are the small 1.94 valve heads, where the Z/28, Vette, and SS Nova had the 2.02 heads.
