Default trans shop problems

I just picked up my 1969 Camaro again from a local trans shop. I initally took it there 3 weeks ago to have new sals put in as the trans was leaking. They put in all new seals and said it was good to go, 2 year warrenty on leaks. I just picked it up and after getting home and looking at the trans, they put red silicon between the trans and bellhousing, als it is a Saginaw 4 speed. I believe the is to be no silicone in this area. What would be causing it to leak. Also when they put seals in it the first time, they did not state anything was wrong with the input shaft, other than a bit of wear on the reverse gear. I will be calling on monday, and do not want to be an -----hole but this is getting old, now a third trip back to them. Any info before I take it there. After paying $588 for the trans to be fixed, that is them pulling and putting the trans back in the car, I could have got a newly rebuilt one for that. Thanks, Jerod

You asked them to put in new seals, not for them to fix the leaks. So you got what you paid for. If you wanted the leak fixed you should have asked for them to fix it, and to give you a price quote. Silicone between the transmission and bell housing does nothing, but I suspect it was just smeared around to make you feel that they were doing something for you.

Wait, I don't see anywhere where you said it's still leaking. Your only complaint was the silicone between the trans and bellhousing.

The rason I assumed it was still leaking, is that he said "What would be causing it to leak." , which is what he should have asked the repair shop. I guess he must be doing a lot of driving backwards if only the reverse gear shows wear. lol

Default leak

I was in to get leaks taken care of, and they said they will put all new seals in it, and the recpit I got from them the first time states on it, 2 year warranty on leaks.
