97 Z28 Auto trans problems???
Hi I have a 97 Z28 camaro.
I am having problems with the auto trans. Its been driving good then it was getting the hard 1st to 2nd shift, now it is slipping pretty bad.
I did some research but am unsure of what transmission I have. I Believe its the 4L60E being a 97 but I am unsure. possibly the 4L60. any help would be appreciated.
I am also throwing ses light P1870 Trans component slipping. What I have found out is that most likely the valve body needs to be replaced.
Any help would be greatly appreciated so I can get this car back up and running.

I'm Looking into taking the valve body off and just replacing it with a remanufactured one with a warranty.
Does any one thing that would solve my problem? It comes with the wiring harness and all sensors / solenoids.
Its Roughly $150 for the complete valve body.
I think it would be cheaper this way than rebuilding mine and boreing in out to fix it.

you can try that and hope for the best.
you'll find that sunshell, sprag and clutches are common failures. If the valve body fixes your problem then that's great but go in expecting the worst and hope for the best.
