Default Turbo 400 trans problems

Is anyone familiar with transmissions? I have a turbo 400 on a big block 396. Was running hard and manually shifted into 2nd. ( 3 speed auto) The engine revs but the car goes nowheres. Actually reverse is fine. If you put it in drive the car will go forward maybe 15 to 20 miles an hour but then she slips. Tranny fluid is full and bright red no burnt odor, no debris. The tranny makes no off sound. It has a shift kit and was freshly rebuilt. Its not leaking either. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also has a 2500 stall speed torque converter.[/align]__________________

Default RE: Turbo 400 trans problems

[&:] i wish i remembered more about the internals of this trans as it is one of my personal favorites. its been a few years since ive diassembled one. if i had to take a wild guess id look at non functioning clutch packs or one of the sprags. this may be from thier failure or from the valve body and incorrect fluid flow. you said it was just rebuilt?? who did it?? do you have the vacuum hose hooked up?? i wish i could be some help but since building a couple of my own back in school ive left them to the pro's as it takes oohhh so very little on the inside to make them not work right kurt
