I have a 68 camaro with a 4 spd muncie. It just locked into a gear (thinking 1st). Was pulling it out of the garage up onto my driveway. The gear shifter is over where 3 to 4 is, and seems to be in the neutral position. I have 1-1.5 in up and down play, very little side to side movement. Clutch works fine. Not too sure where I start.
Any ideas?

 

Best thing to do is get under the car and have a buddy work the shifter while you look at what is or isn't moving.
A shift rod could have dropped loose, or got lodged. Or it could be the shifter itself jammed or some foreign object stuck/wedged in there.

 

This just happen to me this morning.. I'm trying to figure out what the issues is.
