Default I need help on my 94 z28. Tranny problem

I bout the car saturday and took it for 40 min. ride today. And I have two problems with the car. And they are as follows.

Tranny problem: On the way into town it shifted fine but when i reached town it wouldent shift into snd unless i let off gas around 23 mph.
It was rebuilt 100 miles before by a guy that works on cadillacs.

Motor over heating: The car overheated, And the fans wouldent turn on untill then temp. reached the red zone. I thought it might be a stuck thermastat but dont know.

Any help that I can get would be appreciated. Thanks

is the tranny auto or manual ?

as for the over heating, yes one it could be the thermostat, if you wanted to check if it was working you can always pull it out, and put it in a pot of boiling water and see if it opens at 180, it could be old coolant

and if the fans arent coming on, check the fuses, and see if the wires are connected under the hood on the left side of the car, the connecting tips could be corroded

there are two fans, a high and a low, the low should come on anytime the a/c is activated and when the car reaches about 200 degrees

yeah i would definately drain the coolant and put new coolant in, also the relay for the fan may not be functioning correctly

How about the trains? When i get around 2200 I let off of the gas and it shifts to 2nd. I had it in 2nd and floored it downshifted to first but wouldent shift back to second.

well i suggest doing all the fluids and by the way it doesnt do anything manually shifting a automatic, especially since yours is electronic, the computer will automatically shift it to the next higher or lower gear

I wasent manually shifting it.
I had to get it up to 2200 rpms and let off of gas and it would shift into 2nd on its own, then i floored it when it was in 2nd and it downshifted into 1st gear and it redlined, it wouldent shift to 2nd so i let off and drove slow on the way home. It shifted fine n the way into town.

yeah i would change the fluid first and see if that helps, dont forget the filter!

otherwise it could be something with the linkage in the tranny or maybe the clutch ?

Common reasons for your problem:
Contaminated fluid clogging passages in the valve body
1-2 shift valave sticking
Valve body gasket out of position
Shift solenoid sticking or damaged, or bad electrical connection
2-4 Shift servo assembly passage restricted
4 th servo piston in backwards
2-4 band damaged

If changing the fluid does not help, the above items will have to be looked at.
