Default 1967 Camaro 327 SB w/Muncie Transmission Install Issue

I just installed a 327 and 4-Speed Manual Transmission into my 1967 Camaro Coupe. Engine mounts lined up perfectly, but when I went to mount the transmission to the crossmember, I'm about 2 inches short of the transmission mount! See photo. From everything I've seen, there is only one crossmember for a small block installation, no matter if it's a manual or automatic transmission. While this car started life as a 6 cylinder with a Powerglide, it looks like the crossmember would still be the same for a SB V-8 install. What am I missing? Why doesn't my transmission line up with the crossmember transmission mount? The Muncie 4-Speed transmission has the 3885010 case with a 3846429 tail shaft. I've also compared the 429 tail shaft to a 3857584 tail shaft (difference as to where the speedometer cable is attached), but they seem to measure exactly the same in terms of length and position of transmission mounting. Is this potentially a Muncie vs Saginaw 4-Speed transmission issue?? Any thoughts appreciated!!

Going from memory (that may be flawed) I think there might be another set of crossmember mounting holes in the subframe.
These cars came with a wide variety of different engine and trans combos from six banger 3 speed manuals to a variety of small blocks that could be had with anything from a manual 3 speed or two speed powerglide automatic or a couple different 4 speeds and big blocks with 3 speed T-400 automatics or a 4 speed Muncie.
You either need to relocate the crossmember or get a different one but I think you can just move it forward and bolt it back in.
Good luck,I'm sure someone else will chime in soon that knows more than I,it's been 30+ years since I worked on the 1st gen '69 I had.

The cross member is the same for a Power Glide / Turbo 350/4 speed.,And is up farther than shown .That more like a Turbo 400 cross member,

THM400 crossmembers are a deeper arch. If coming from an L6,swap frame mounts per side as this action will move SBC back against firewall.
The distance from firewall to dist cap should be about 1-1/2 inches, maybe less.

Everett#2390 - Success!! Absolutely perfect advice on how to correct my 4-Speed installation. I just finished swapping around the motor mounts and bolting in the transmission. Thanks again for diagnosing my problem. Let me know if you're ever in the Cleveland, OH area and I'll buy you dinner!

Default Crossmember holes

Yeah, I had the same thing with my 67. I put an M-22 in it and just short!! If you look around the fra.e rails their should be another set of holes, maybe more. Most 67's came with a power glide so that hole patter, the TH350, and manual are all different. Just a 7/16" drill bit, problem solved!!!Good luck
