manual transmission mount
my cousin has a '92 camaro rs with a 3.1 v6 and a manual trans(t5?). we found that his transmission mount needed to be replaced, but its a dealer only part...$150. has anyone here modified there crossmember to accept an automatic transmission mount?? we were thinking about using a polyurethane mount from energy suspension. the main thing i'm concerned about is the correct distance from the bottom of the transmission to the crossmember. i figured i could weld a plate in the crossmember and then drill two holes to mate up with the auto mount. i'm sure if we do this it will just be trial and error basically, but was curious if anyone has run across a similar problem. any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. sorry for the long post
